Roller-Coaster Ride
On this, the 19th day of March 2006, I break my blogging silence just long enough to give my readers an update on my situation. I lost my job towards the end of January. I just finished my first week at the new place I work at. In almost every respect, the place I work out now is better/cooler than where I was before, so I'm really happy with that. Let's just say that the month and a half between my last day and my first day was quite a roller-coaster ride, and that blogging was near the bottom of my priority list.
In the meantime I've become addicted to online first person shooters. I've started playing Counter Strike: Source, and more recently, Battlefield 2. Those two games and e-mail pretty much monopolize all of my "sitting-in-front-of-my-computer-at-home" time. If my friend here didn't have an unprotected wireless connection in her area, I'm not sure how much longer it would've taken for me to submit a blog entry.
I'm very excited by one particular aspect of my new job: There are 3 people there who enjoy playing Virtua Fighter. Now, anyone who's ever heard me rant on fighting games knows what I think of that game. What they might not know is that I've had little to no competition for years, due to its steep learning curve among other things. Now, I've gone from having no competition to having daily access to a pool of competent players. I can potentially play VF4 every day now. This is gonna rock.
I gotta go now, so here are some quick bullet points on what I'm playing now:
- I've obtained a copy of the Castlevania Double-Pack for the GBA and am working my way up to Dawn or Sorrow. The only reason I hadn't played that game yet is because I know it's a sequel to Aria of Sorrow and I had never played.
- Super Princess Peach is actually pretty damn cool.
- WarioWare Touched is a nice improvement on the original. I can't wait to get the harmonica.
