Non-generic post

I haven't posted anything in forever. This is basically a status update post. Things have been crazy at work lately, and all signs point to continued craziness until mid July at least. As a result, I find myself continuously violating the #1 rule of maintaining a popular blog: post often.

On the personal side, not much has changed. I've discovered that Molson Kick is a great beer for my lifestyle. Being the irresponsible child I am, I often find myself dead tired when an opportunity for appropriate beer-drinking presents itself. For those of you who don't know, Molson Kick has Guarana in it, allowing me to stay alert as I get drunk.

On the gaming side, I started playing Metal Gear Solid 3 afew weeks ago. I gotta admit the game shows much promise. What's great about the MGS series are the colorful bosses. The "interactive movie" style that's taken in presenting the story also helps greatly in making the characters memorable (have I ever mentioned that Hideo Kojima is a fucking genius?). I also own the remake of MGS1 for the GameCube, so I'll have the chance to replay through the entire story in chronological order as soon as I'm done.

As much as I enjoy playing MGS3, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is "The Game" for me right now. I play it whenever I have the chance, and being a Gameboy Advance game, I have chances to play very often. FFT Advance is the main reason I haven't made it that far into MGS3. I've always been a fan of strategy games, and the RPG aspects that they've slapped onto the very solid fighting system make this game an instant gem in my book. All this combined with the fact that I can actually whip the game out, play for 5 minutes, save and go about my real-life business make FFT Advance the prime candidate for "next game I'll actually finish".

*grin* Happy to see someone else in the 'started but didn't finish it' game connundrum ;-)

FFT is actually one of those "started it, loved it, put it down a sec to try something else, now it's 2 years later and I don't remember anything about my party of mission"...

Don't really feel like starting it from scratch again. sigh. oh well.

On an unrelated noted.. any way to add an RSS feed to this blog? That'd be nice...

I love blog sites that cater to lazy people *g*

Martin, I INVENTED the "started it, but never finished it" connundrum. :oD I, on the other hand, have no trouble picking up a game I haven't played in months (or years) and getting back into it within a couple of hours. And I didn't know what an RSS feed was until you asked. Does that answer your question?

As far as Guarana goes, Wikipedia is the perfect lazy-man's reference. If you don't think the article is complete, do some research and append it. ;o)

I've always liked countering hypothetical adverbs with cold hard numbers. A typical cup of coffee contains somewhere around 120mg of caffeine. One bottle of Molson Kick has the equivalent of 55mg. This supports my personal experience with the drink. If you had asked me before I had the numbers, I woulda said that a 6-pack of Kick is equivalent to 2 cups of coffee. It's actually a bit more.

Anyone who thinks that one bottle of Kick is a replacement for coffee is a fool, but I guarantee you that if you're dead tired, and you buy a 6-pack of Kick, you'll most definitely be less tired after your 6th beer than you were when you started. And even though it's common knowledge, your Unibroue link strenghtens my point, because it's chemically impossible for a non-caffeinated beer to have that effect on you. This is not a placebo.
